Eating nutritious food, The path to reconciliation between indulgence and health
To indulge, according to the Collins English Dictionary means “to allow oneself the pleasure of something”. This dictionary even gives this example: ” at Christmas he likes to indulge in himself”!!!
As you can see the problem is not in indulging oneself. There is nothing unhealthy in indulging in a square of chocolate! The problem starts when we associate indulgence with big quantities and it is mainly what the meaning of Indulgence has become.
Why do you think so?
Mainly because we are not giving our body nutritious food. So the body is asking for more and more food all the time and it will until it gets the right amount of nutrients to function properly. Therefore if you give your body a nutritious but nevertheless delicious food you will eat less and still get this sense of indulgence. I realise that indulging is an emotional thing and we should eat to live rather than live to eat! The reality is that we use food for comfort so I find easier to just accept it for now and rather than to start with fighting the cravings, I indulge in them in a nutritious way! Indeed if you give yourself a delicious living food pudding you will find that you can indulge without compromising your health.
Here it is. When we do that we move beyond the paradox into healthy indulgence !!!
